Family Photo

Have you ever tried to take a self portirate family photo with a infant?

Well, today we tried.

And. We. Failed.

Mr. G calls me at 8 am and says we need a family photo for the media guide. Umm, we have yet to take a family photo were the 3 of us were we all look nice! So, I tell him well he has to come home to take one if he wants one.  I am in gym clothes about to head out to the gym. I scramble in attempt to salvage 3 day old hair, come up with a last minute cute outfit for Miss P. (which really isn't that hard thanks to my mother in law.) But for me, I guess I will settle for gross hair and a black tank top. The sacrifices of a mother I guess. At least I lost some weight and I don't look like I am still 8 months pregnant just 6 months now.

Now, how to do you get a 7 month old baby to smile and look at the camera when no one is holding the camera? Let me tell you we were stumped for a bit!

 Lol I bet we were a sight for sore eyes trying to take these photos.

We tried singing, tried using our Zoe puppet, tickling her nothing worked. Eventually we went inside and put on Sesame Street and got a few good shots. It was pretty funny and if anyone knows how much Mr. G LOVES photos it was a pretty funny experience. The last 10 shots were me just keeping Mr. G home a little longer! Shsssh don't tell anyone! 

I now think that we will have to run to the mall or Walmart and take some cheap family photos just to have on hand and well to have. Why wouldn't you have a family photo with your first born child? Oh ya that's because my husband is never around enough to actually do something like that. lol Aww poor guy!

Sunday

Today is Sunday and Sunday is a day of relaxing. Unless you are Mr. G then you are at work till 11pm.

Miss P and I had a lazy morning. Getting up around 9:30, watched a little seasame street and had breakfast and coffee together. Sunday is the day I do not go to the gym to give my body a little rest. Anyho, we went on a walk and then played in the pool for a few hours with our sweet neighbors. Then we had dinner some play time and a bath! Now it is 7:45 and Miss P is a sleep! Lets pray it is for the night!

Not much else to report today other than we did not get a drop of rain from the hurricane and it looks like coast got a pretty good beating!

Dinner Success!!!

Yup yup I did it! I pulled it off! Dinner was a success!

Not a drop of food or crumb left to eat when the guys left! Even the Cake was gone!

Yesterday went exactly as planned! And I even made it to the gym and took Miss P for a swim. ( I felt bad that Elmo was watching her all day!)

The guys loved the food. This was the first time I have ever cooked for a group of people! I get self conscious and worry people say it was good just to be polite and not that they really thought so! 

Not much else to say other than next time I am going to have make double! One guy even came back for 3rds and was like oh man its gone! The guys watched some preseason football and they were loud! A lot of jokes and playful banter about everyday stuff that happen at the office. I felt out of the loop since I didn't get the jokes and if you know me I like to get whats going on!

Miss P was really good! Journei (Chris and Tiffany's daugther) gave each other kisses! I don't have a photo of Journei but she is 19 months and the size of a 3 year old! No lie she wears 2T clothes! She is the sweet girl who looks just like her daddy! Mr. G and Chris are really good friends. (My boy as Mr. G and Chris put it) They were on teh last staff together and they do everything together! Chris picks Mr. G up for work every morning (cause we only have one car) and they workout together every day too! Chris is a big boy and has such a accent that I have to have Mr. G translate our conversations! Yesterday was his birthday and he turned 29! Tomorrow we are going to dinner with them for Chris's birthday to Cheesecake Factory! Woot! I am excited!

On a serious note the hurricane Irene will be hitting North Carolina tomorrow early morning. It is quite possible we could get huge storm from it. I am off to the store when Miss P wakes up to buy some water and candles. Then I will pull out our flash lights JUST in case. I rather be ready especially now with a baby. Obama even made an announcement saying this is going to be a historical hurricane. Those words never mean anything positive!

Dedication!

SUPER. FAST. BLOG. POST.

I am in the mist of a whirlwind of cleaning, cooking and playing with Miss P.,  God bless her she has been a saint! I stopped doing everything and took her swimming! She had a blast and now is sleeping soundly in her swing for I hope the next couple of hours! But who knows with a teething baby!

I would like to do a quick shout out to Aunt Coco for her amazing salsa. Umm Ya it took us 4 hours last night to finish the salsa! I have a new found respect for Coco and her "Salsa" Get it gurl!!! But I must say I am pretty darn impressed with my results and so is Mr. G and thats saying  A LOT!

Quckie

Today is going to be a quick post.

Why? You ask!

Well, Mr. G and I are going to host a dinner for the football staff! *GASSSSP*

This will be my first time in my life hosting a dinner of sorts for people. People will be actually be eating food I made?! ( I have only cooked food for Mr. G and Jon lol cause well they eat pretty much anything)

I am a tad nervous and excited. I am being a real  coaches wife (as opposed to the fake one right?)  and I will  probably be doing this for years and years to come. Hopefully eat year I will improve on my cooking and presentation.

The Menu for the night is:

• My mother in laws yummy enchiladas ( I pray my are half as good)
• Aunt Coco's famous Salsa (Wish me luck here people)
• Again my mother in laws corn pudding ( a personal favorite and a tad nervous to see what goes in it)
• Mr. G will be making the guacamole. (Because I said he has to!)

As long as everything goes as planned I promise lots and lots of photos to show proof that people actually ate my food and hopefully no one gets sick either! hahah

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Ok every say a prayer for me that I cook great and Miss P lets me get stuff done!

Shimmy Shimmy

I experienced my first East Coast earthquake today.

My goodness do people handle these things way different than they do in southern California! People running out of buildings screaming. I felt bad but it was quite funny. Miss P and I walked calmly out of the building and went home.

People out here should come to California and experience our earthquakes! To their defense they don't get them often and the buildings are not built to with stand earthquakes.
It was a 5.8 magnitude. Nothing fell off the walls, no one got hurt, no major building damage. All is good here :) They say this is the first 5.8 earthquake since 1897, wow!

Now, on a more serious note Hurricane Irene is on a potential path to hit us here in North Carolina. 

I hear that if Hurricane Irene touches ground here it will be the first time in a LONG time that a hurricane has touched ground in the US.

It is projected to hit Charlotte which is about 45 minutes east of us. So if anything we will get us it will be a HUGE storm but not much else. I am hoping that whenever it happens Mr. G will be home with us. The storms here are nothing like they are in California...they are scary!

Monday

It is Monday and I am totally uninspired on a topic to blog about!

I dunno why but usually at some part of the day a topic pops in my head and I am like "Ya! That's it!" But not today!

Today, I went to the gym, went grocery shopping, Miss P took a 3 hour nap I, ran to the bank, paid some bills. Made salmon. Just a normal boring Monday. Boo. 

Mr. G isn't coming home till 11:30 tonight. Ugh. He did stop by for 15 Min's to grab the car.

Sigh.

 Quality family time.

NOT!

I did see a purse yesterday and I have total purse envy which doesn't happen often. Seldom do I see something that I have to have lol like my diaper bag that Mr. G got me for our  first anniversary. I saw it and HAD to have IT! I dunno but every now and again it happens.

Here it is!

Its Dooney & Burke and its like $300. Someday when I am rich I am going to buy a bunch of purses I envy and wear them all at once everyday! I lie, but it sounds fun!

To boring Mondays and pretty purses! Peace out people!

Sunday Funday

Sunday Funday.

I am not doing anything fun. I will just cut to the chase now. Sorry to bust your bubble.

But yesterday Mr. G had some free time yesterday after his scrimmage before he was due back in the office to grade film.

So we pretty much ran to the movies! I was so excited that I talked non stop to the theater and Mr. G made fun of me the whole way! I could not help myself but honestly it was sooo nice to spend a few hours alone with him just to chat with no interruptions! We saw Planet of the Apes which was a AWESOME movie!!!

My sweet / poor sister babysat Miss P for us. It was funny to get a text during the movie saying she has been screaming for 45 minutes and crawling around the house looking for me. Ok, definitely not funny but funny that she went room to room in search for her mama. My sister said she would get to a room crawl around and when she realized I wasn't there she would start to cry again and she did that for each room in the house! After she was done looking, she went right to sleep! So shout out to my sister for being such a trooper for my little mama's girl!

To defend my lil girl on her looking for me for 45 minutes two more teeth broke through the skin last night / this morning. So she may have just been in desperate need of some mommy snuggles to make her feel better! So now we have 5 teeth and one more on the way!

Saturday

This Saturday Mr. G had a football scrimmage!

So, Miss P, my sister and I all went to watch! It started off as a cool morning and then heated up really fast!

The Defense "sucked" according to Mr. G but honestly who knows what that means!

I wasn't able to watch much of the game becaues tall people insisted on standing in front of me but that is ok. We were there for support, but it is much more fun now because I am getting to know more people and the players are always so polite and say hi to Miss P and I!

I know! I know! (Hangs head in shame)

I missed a day. But let me explain my day was terrible, ok not TERRIBLE but fast and exhausting!

 Miss P top tooth FINALLY broke through the skin and now we have two more to go! She was whining and fussy ALL DAY and I couldn't even put her down to eat dinner or go to the rest room. ( No lie! I held her on my lap while I did my business)

Life of a mother!

Today is a tad better. But today I feel myself getting sick!

Sore throat, dry itchy eyes, throbbing sinuses!

Yup, and I still went to the gym this am. But as for tomorrow I AM going to I AM going to go to the gym tomorrow... I hope.

 I do need to make sure I am healthy to take care of Miss P cause a sick mama means a tired mama and a impatient mama. And I do not want to subject Miss P to that, cause well its not fair to her!

In other news! My sister "Auntie Sissy" is here to spend the weekend with Miss P.

This will be her first weekend with her since she was born where Miss P or I are not on some sort of time schdule and has her ALL to her self! About time you think?

 Although she is studying between her hangng time for her boards test she has coming up!  At the beginning of next month! Good Luck Sis!

Mr. G made it home at an exciting 9:50 tonight!

He told me he might be home a tad early, so I decided to keep Miss P up for him. Considering its been about 3 days since the have seen each other!

 

And OH BOY was she excited! It was so sweet!

When he would hand her to me she would turn around and reach for him!

She just wanted to hang out with her dada!

Yay for bonding time even if it was for only 30 mins! Every little bit counts!

ps. my outfit of the day was fail. I decided to go to the gym twice today. So I wore my stinky gym clothes all day! Talk about a hot mama!

7 Months Check up!! (Day 8!)

Well the day came for Miss P. to get her check up!

It went really! Miss P cooed and gooed at everyone at the office! She is quite the ham!

Anywho, the doctor told me Miss P is perfect, healthy and petite!

Yup, Miss P is a itty, bitty baby. Incase you didn't already know!

She measured a whoping 14.5 lbs! and 25 inches long!

Putting her into the 15th and 10th percentile respecitively.

Ya its a 40% dip from our 4 month check up in June! Woowee!

The doctor was kind enough as well to point out that 3 teeth were coming in at any moment.

Ya, you read right 3!!!!!

So, not only did she get 2 shots! She has 3 teeth hurting her lil mouth!

I guess Miss P will get some extra snuggles tonight!!!

My day ( Day 7)

Ahhh! You thought I forgot to blog today didn't you!?

Well, I didn't. The day isn't over and I never said I would have a blog up before noon everday did I? Did I?

Anywho, it is quite in the house. Mr. G is still at work and Miss P is in bed asleep!

So, I am going to shed some light on what I did today :)

Ready?

8am: Woke up. Drank coffee. Got ready for the gym.

8:20 am: Miss P waks up as pale as a ghost. I freak out.

8:45: I decide everything is ok. Feed, clothe, cuddle with P.

9: 10: I head to the gym. I tell the care lady P's story and tell her to come get me asap if she ANYTHING    SEEMS weird.

10:15: I pick P up from day care. She is hysterical. Sweet.

10:20: I go to the post office.

10:25: I go home. Put on Elmo for P to watch and do the dishes and a load of laundry

11:00: I put P down for a nap.

11:05: Clean bathroom. Boy do I scrub that bad boy down

11:45: I make myself lunch.

12:00: I eat lunch and do a little facebook, internet reading, emails, and aol messaging.

1:00: P wakes up from her nap.

1:10: Change, feed, P

1:30: Run to the dollar store to buy cleaning supplies. (the cheap way!)

1:50: Get home. Put Elmo ( I know, mother of the yea,r but things needed to get done people) Sweep mop the WHOLE house except the kitchen.

3:00: Put P down for a nap. I decide to take a nap too :)

3:30: P wakes up from nap. So much for a nap.

3:40: I put Elmo on AGAIN! And rearrange the furniture in P's room. (Her crib is too close the big window in her room and I think it makes her cold. Either way it makes me feel better)

4:20: Clean Mr. G's bathroom (eww)

4:40: Thanks Sue! My charger for my camera gets here!

4:41: Charge my camera :)

4:50: Take lots of photos of Miss P!

6:30: Decide I do not want chicken for dinner and run to the grocery store.

6:50: Come home

6:15: Skype with Stacy

7:50: Still skyping with stacy, while I feed P, cook dinner, do dishes, and eat dinner myself.

8:00: Give P a bath and read P a book

8:30: Sweep and mop kitchen

8:50: Play with P and give P some milk ;)

9:30: Put P to bed

9:35: Start typing my blog :)

* somewhere around 10:30 Mr. G comes home from work :)

And there you have it for those of you who want to know what I do all day! Tomorrow is jam packed with laundry! Woo Hoo!

Im crafty tafty!

So, I was feeling a tad crafty yesterday. Or I was just tired of looking at the sad sad chairs in our kitchen. You decide.

Anyways, I got the idea to recover my chairs!

 I have had these chairs since college and they are in really good condition except that fabric on the chair which has water stains and a ink stain from all the moves they have endured. I have tried to clean them before but it just made it worse.

I did it a slightly ghetto way.  I only say ghetto because I didn't remove the seat from the chair!!)

All you need is :

Fabric you want to use to recover the chair with

Staple gun

Scissors

And Whola! You just gave your chair a face lift! It took all of an hour!

Here is my before. Eww right? The fabric on the chair was the original fabric I was going to use. But my mom had some extra fabric that was bright and would add a nice pop to the room.

Finished product! Not too shabby huh?!

LOOK WHO DECIDED SHE WANTED A PACIFIER!!!

I Miss P has pretty much never taken a pacifier or sucked her fingers. She had a few moments when she was first born she would take it but not now!

Well, lately she seems super needy in the sucking department and just wants to nurse but doesn't drink. If that make sense. It seems more like a comfort thing. Every night I stick a Paci and a blanket in her crib in hopes that one day she will use one of those things to soothe herself back to sleep. Ya, no such luck! But she took the Paci today!! I hope it sticks! It would be really helpful in soothing herself and stop using me!!!

Lets all take a moment and pray that she continues to show interest in it!

Fit Friday!

Like the title?

It's so appropriate right? I mean come on!

Anyways, I decided every Friday I will offer some sort of nugget of information on fitness, health, and over of wellness :)

I can just feel your excitement ooozing through my computer as you read this! Its ok, I like the idea!

So my first nugget of information may be  common knowledge or common sense to people or it may not be. I have no idea what you know. I am just going to start with something simple!

So here it goes!

When trying to work on portion control in the midst of a life style change ( to most it is known as a diet) I suggest drinking a LARGE glass of water before you eat!

I like to do this because not only is drinking water good for you but it helps fill your stomach and help you consume fewer calories when you eat but it also takes care of the 3 of the 8 glasses of water you are s "supposed / recommended" to drink everyday! Thus helping you lose weight!!!

*Side note: I could never in life of me drink that much water. I would spend my day peeing and getting nothing accomplished! But, I do try to drink as much as possible. 

It is that simple!

But firstly, I wanted to share a huge mommy milestone for me! I left Miss P in child care this morning for 1 hour!! I know its not a big deal to a lot of mommies out there but for me it was huge, because she has never been watched by anyone other than by Mr. G, my mom and mother in law.  Anyways, She was happy, she didn't cry, and the lady said she was a lot of fun! I gave myself a good pat on my back :)
