Today is our 1 month anniversary! Yay we made it! I know for the veteran married couples out there this is nothing, but to me it is a really big deal! So in celebration of our big 1 month anniversary, I want to recap the top 10 WOW factors of my special day...
10. The New Years Eve countdown. This was the moment we started the year off as husband and wife. How perfect is that?
9. The slide show. A very good friend of Mr. G's family was so very kind and amazing to gift us with a spectacular slide show. No, this is NOT just your everyday hum drum slide show, this thing is AH-MA-ZING ! It had so much detailing in it. From us being interviewed on how we met, the reason why we love each other, video footage of our glory days as college athletes, and my personal favorite the video of the actual proposal! All this intertwined with a awesome music selection cued perfectly with our baby and engagement photos. It is something I will watch for ever and ever and I love it so much!
8. The toasts. Where to start? Mr. G has a older brother (Bryan) with Downs Syndrome who was also Mr. G's best man. Boy did he take his "best man" duties seriously. One of the things that Bryan wanted to do was give a toast to fully fulfill his duties. It was the most heartwarming WOW on this list. Mr. G's cousin Ronnie helped Bryan deliver his speech without a hitch. Then Ronnie gave a very up lifting toast flawlessly. My sister (Maid of honor) on the other hand decided she wanted to take the, "let's make the bride cry like a little baby in front of everyone approach". It worked! I cried like a baby, she is hands down the best sister in the world! Next, Stacy my matron of honor gave a speech that also was so amazing, reminding me of all the things we have been through, how long we have known each other and how much we have to look forward to! When the speeches were delivered it was all a confirmation that I love my life and all the people in it! (Below: Bryan giving his speech)
7. The first dance. This was the sweetest of my WOW's. We danced to "Come what may" from Moulin Rouge, it is one of our all time favorite songs.
6. Standing at the alter. I mean come on, I am staring into my soon to be husband's eyes. My heart was filled with so much joy and love that my cheeks were hurting so bad from smiling and I thought for sure my heart would bust out of my chest!
5. Signing the contract. When a contract is signed that means the deal is legit. I never thought signing a paper would actually make me sentimental but it did.
4. Being announced as Mr. & Mrs. G. After months and months of planning, crying, arguing and praying it's done and we are official! It felt amazing!
3. Walking down the aisle. My father is not at all a sentimental or affectionate guy. It is simply just not his thing and my father put no effort into trying hide his lack of enthusiasm for walking me down the aisle, but when the moment came for him to do his duty ... everything changed. Right before we walked down the aisle he turned to me and said, "Are you ready to go baby girl? I am so proud of you." I look at him and started to tear up. It took everything in my power not to start bawling right then. It was a special moment between us that I will remember forever.
2. "You may now kiss the bride!" The kiss. This was my most wow WOW. Need I say more? It is the first of many, many, many kisses we will share as husband and wife. Such a special moment for everyone to see. Now when I am feeling reflective I run up to Mr. G and tell him, "Give me a wedding day kiss! " It is my favorite!
1. Hands down, "The first look". Mr. G and I had opted to see each other before the wedding. It was by far the best idea ever! We chose to do this with the photographers only and for about 15 minutes it was only us. This was such a sweet and beautiful moment. When I think of our day this is the first vision that comes to my mind. I think any bride is crazy not to do this!
There you have it! My top 10 WOW's of my wedding day!
